OOSTERHUIS.NL. The Web of Noord-Holland
[in italiano]

[06may2001]

PRESENTATION. A supple pavilion where visitors capture the architecture and the multimedia presentation of the Province of Noord-Holland in a non-linear interactive game. The web of noord-holland means time-based architecture, experience in real time.

INTERACTIVITY. Visitors play with the building, the form and the content of the presentation by wandering through the 5 bright-coloured sectors of the presentation space (the dive). Each sector represents a specific aspect of the Province of Noord-Holland. The dive space nests like a five-sided blob in the streamlined body of the pavilion.

CONSTRUCTION. The outer skin of the Web of Noord-Holland is made of curved triangles of hylite, a new composite material developed by Corus. The cladding is fastened on a spaceframe which accurately describes the free geometry of the pavilion. In the space between the inner and the outer skin a dynamic light programme reacts in real time to the movements of the continuous stream of visitors.
