Part I - Located north of Paris and built in the 50 years after 1220, the Cathedral demonstrates the height of architectural skill of the Middle Ages. By employing the most sophisticated computer-animation tecniques of our time, the viewer is shown the cathedral's construction with innovative lightweight masonry and flying buttresses as well as animation that illustrates the construction sequence.
Part II - This visual essay complements the computer-animated video by taking the viewer on a tour of the cathedral as it is in the present. The Steadicam footage moves through interior and around the exterior providing a detailed view of the nave, transepts, vaults, radiating chapels, flying buttresses, and sculptural details all set to music without narration.
