Katharina Bosch, Susanne Schumacher

weiße vernunft - siedlungsbau der 20er jahre
Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe, Prestel, Deutscheland 1999

The CD-Rom presents a moment of development of a residential building and the design of the internal in Germany during the Weimar Republic - the so-called Neues Bauen. The various arguments are presented on three levels: one section of study in place, the national context and the theoretical background. The various levels are led by a clear graphic guide. There are also numerous links between the different levels in order that all who navigate through the CD-Rom can interact. From the urban project Dammerstock-Siedlung in Karlsruhe supervised by Gropius, one passes to the contemporary urban space in order to arrive in a third place to examine the different problems and various approaches of critics focusing on the question of reform.

Katharina Bosch and Susanne Schumacher have studied art and theory of media at the Hochschule fur Gestaltung (Karlsruhe). Currently, they are assistants for the project "Virtual University in Karlsruhe." Andrea Gleiniger is a historian of architecture and the director of Multimediastudio at Hochschule fur Gestaltung, where he teaches New Media. Projektgruppe Dammerstock is an association of students concerned with new media as well as with research of the collective dynamics of work.
