Jose Luis Gomez del Pozo
Zorrozaurre 2010
Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura Madrid, Espana 1999, 15'55''

Zorrozaurre 2010 is a video based on an urban project conceived by students in their fifth year of the superior technical school of architecture (E.T.S.A.M.). The video was produced specifically for IMAGE, il Festival Internazionale di Architettura in Video. The scope of the project that the video illustrates is the redefinition of the role of the Zorrozaurre Peninsula in Bilbao as well as the reorganization of the urban structure. The peninsula is situated on the Nervion River. Along with the Guggenheim Museum, the Opera House and the recently inaugurated Congressional Center, the peninsula itself is an integral part of the new image of this area of Bilbao, an area which was formally the 'docklands'. These buildings constitute the mainpoints of the riverfront area. As the images in the demonstrate, the scope of the project is to furnish another point of reference in harmony with the modern and industrial image of the city. For this reason, a building in the form of a ship was envisioned in order to recall the areas industrial and maritime past. This would be the first entry area into the city when coming from the sea. Jose Luis Gomez del Pozo, a fifth year student and creator and producer of the video, was aided by a crew of five students, among whom one Italian (Maria Clarelli) completed while they were fellows in the Department of Architecture of the Universita di Napoli. The video was conceived for an exam of Urbanism II, and was completed with Autocad 14, 3-D StudioMax, Photoshop and Adobe Premier.
