Gregory A. Luhan
Transcendence. Architecture in Between Appearence and Reality
University of Kentucky, College of Architecture, USA 1999

This work is the result of a collaboration between theologians, architects and students whose common aim is research through Digital Media as a communicative instrument for Architecture. What motivates the research group is the development of architectures of transcendence that are united by the notion of a common role for the Arts, Architecture and Religion. The study, composed by a professor and eleven students of the fourth and fifth year in the school of Architecture, has created an installation of single areas of design that raise or even exploit the state of transcendence pursued or studied an individual bases.

Gregory A. Luhan is architect in New York. He has written articles on the systems of synthesis in digital architecture and on the porousness of the urban environment as represented by digital models from Venice, Shanghai, Louisville (Kentucky) and New York. His model of New York was used as a base for IFCCA - Design of Cities Competition 1999. Luhan teaches in the first completely digital center in Kentucky.
