 Nicole Maurer Accessorize Nederland 1998, 4'05'' This project has been developed in order to find out a link between architecture and media. Fashion is deeply linked to architecture. Accessorize in its origins is a fashion magazine and is a result of a Nicole Maurer's academic research. In this video she tried to explore if fashion can be connected to architecture and if yes, how. The basic concepts are the Access and the Accessory studied through a project of a building not strictly related with the fashion world. All this has been made in order to show the general truth of this theoretical approach. The first part shows the trial to realise a combined structure useful either as a Kindergarten or as a home for the aged. The second movie simply shows the realistic representation of this building. Maurer Engineering Architecture and Media is placed in Eindoven (Holland). The team leaded by Nicole and Marc Maurer follows the architectonic design focused on an architecture strictly connected to the media. While Nicole evolves in her work being inspired by the fashion principals, Marc is more oriented to an architecture inspired by the hip-hop sub-culture. |
