 Fiona Meadows + Frédéric Nantois La maison du divorce Francia 1999, 30' "The house of divorce" is the expression of a paradoxical situation which characterises the contemporary society and where the constant search for homogeneity coexists with the more and more defined individualist or sectarian claims. The counterpart of these dynamics is the simplification of the information and communication systems since they are, at the same time, the means through which our society expands itself, diffuses its values and since they constitute the support for anti-social resistance. In this schizophrenic system, whose influence reaches all the aspects of everyday life at all social levels, anyone has to find his place as individual as well as part of a group. The house is the centre of this dialects. At the improbable core of the house of divorce there's the complex image of the woman , representing the traditional domestic values but revealing deep irreversible breaks. "La Maison du Divorce" is formed by three videos. Each of them explores complex relationships concerning breaks as well as exchange and dialogue. |
