![]() Patsy Northcutt/Brian Yeoman Building Sustainability with the Natural Step: UT Houston's Journey Northcutt Productions, USA 1999, 21'30'' Inspired by scientific principles of environmental protection, the University of Texas at Houston has begun a project to construct the most ecologically sound buildings. This 22-minute video calls itself "Meeting the necessity of our times without compromising the possibility of meeting future needs." The documentary takes us on a journey to Houston in order to illustrate through animation and colors the principle characteristics of the project and how the group that designed it envisioned the actualization of these principles. It is one of the first documents of its type in the United States and was conceived both to teach people how to care for the environment with natural techniques, and to inspire other organizations to be more responsible regarding environmental issues. The first version of this educative program, called "Completing the Campus," was designated specifically for the university community. The second part of the program was geared for the general public. Information on the construction of the building is available at www.uth.tmc.edu/, on the site "nursing building".
