Generally, the application of architecture, is from longtime oriented to incorporating the new territories of digital space: unstable systems, generic cities, nomadic areas, as well as modifications in the professional arena and in the productive process. Through the digital, architecture has discovered a possible explosion of its areas of interest, inserting itself in enlarged and diffuse space inhabited by millions of people but which remains unplanned, undesigned. It is no longer possible to consider this space as an abstract experiment separate from the physical environment. The idea of space is changing due to influences that stem from temporal contractions and the new dimensions of interventions produced by the media, with which architecture enters in an always intensifying dialogue. This moment of change, thus, requires a reflection on the ideas and the problematic that describe this condition, as well as a critical discourse on the role and on the possible capacities of architecture in relation to the modifications produced by the digital revolution. For this, ARCH'IT has opened in 1998 a space dedicated to the theories on architecture and the digital. Extended Play hosted and hosts the protagonists of the debate on the new ideas of space, project, architecture. Sometimes contrasting voices or diverse points of view, scientific studies, chronicles and poetics converge on the forum offered by ARCH'IT in order to address this issue through mostly unpublished essays.
